Education

The successful automotive repair shop is continually faced with keeping up on the latest changes and improvements in the technology involved in keeping your vehicle running down the road in a safe and efficient manner.  As in any profession, this requires continuous and ongoing education.

Technicians today face challenges they never dreamed of ten years ago. The electrical systems of vehicles now involves complicated electronic circuitry Braking systems now involve computerized hydraulics, and drivetrains (transmissions) are computer controlled as well.

These changes have forced the auto repair industry to develop the education, training and new diagnostic repair equipment necessary for maintaining and servicing this new technology.  Our suppliers play a major role in this education process by providing us with ongoing technical support, training and informative industry publications.  They do this because they understand that as in any industry, providing training and education is the best investment a business can make.

Past.  Present.   Future.

We've talked about the importance and necessity of education in the automotive repair industry.  To back up our words, we have established the "George Liskey Scholarship Fund" at Lansing Community College.  This endowment helps provide financial aid to qualified recipients who are pursuing a technical education in the automotive repair industry.

George, the namesake of Liskey's, started this company as a small two-man shop, while also working at the John Bean plant here in Lansing.  George was a pioneer in the automotive suspension field.  He developed and published the first suspension specification chart in the industry.

Ed came to work for George upon graduating from Ferris State University.  "George was my mentor," Ed states.  "I bought the business from him in 1972, and have continued his philosophy of "growing" my own technicians through the educational process and hands-on training.  I'm blessed to have technicians on my team who have 20 to 30 years of experience.  To the benefit of Liskey's customers, our techs are eager to participate in ongoing training and also, eager to pass on their knowledge to their younger co-workers.

A Good Repair Takes A Team

We make sure that the people who greet you at the front counter are knowledgeable and competent.  Someone with hands-on experience.

We know that to make a good repair, we need trained and experienced personnel to diagnose the problem, to locate the correct parts for your vehicle, to install them correctly, or to make whatever adjustments are necessary.  We also know that the last person you meet may be the most important.  When you come to pick up your car, it is nice to see a smiling face.

It takes a team of highly trained, honest, and hard working people to make a good repair.  We have that team.
